When I start working on a new novel – making notes and developing the plot and characters – I always compile a playlist on Spotify, to help me focus. I pick music that my characters would listen to, and songs that inspire me, that evoke memories of places I’ve visited for research. Or just music that I love listening to at that moment. I’m also sharing my Hello World playlist, which Google obliges me with each day when I wish it 'Good Morning'. It’s a short, upbeat list and once I’ve bopped around the kitchen for twenty minutes, I’m ready to get to work. I need to sit down again by then, to be fair!
